We have just started, what I think, is a great project. I wish I could take credit for it but one day while searching for lesson plans related to charactization, I came across someone else’s great idea. It is to create a myspace or facebook mock home page. The kids are told to pick their favorite character from any book they have read and using a template from Word, they fill in information about that character. They have to use their imagination to decide what kind of music or movies would Dustfinger from Inkspell like for example. Or what interests and heroes does Winnie, from Tuck Everlasting have. Or give personal details like ethnicity, education, family status, character traits, occupation, and behavior for Bobby Pendragon in the Pendragon series. So far it is going great.

I think it’s a great idea, but it’s moving along a little slow. Great plan for deepening the connection between reader and story. Keep it up, and MAYBE pick up the pace? I would love to actually see the pages.

im having a really good time doing this, i have an excyuse to find out random info. on my favorite characters. Its a blast, Im doing mine on character Edward Cullen from ther twilight series. ITs a great idea

I was in this class, but i dropped put right before we did the myspace thing! But i think it was a great Idea from Mrs Baxter. She is an awesome librarian and makes it worth my time to go to the library everyday. I hope everything went well and all my friedns said they had a blast doing this project! i wasnt in her class at the time but my friend was so she showed me how to do it and I had a blast! I chose Kale Allerion from the dragonkeeper chronicles!

yeah it was awesome figuring out how the charaters think like their favorite music. Really cool. I mean i did mine on a tree charater. Yeah a tree. So it was kinda hard figuring out if it was a guy or a girl and its education but it was fun.
